Twas the night before TAKS...

And I have tons to do. However, I'm finding that now that I have several hundred television channels and a DVR at my disposal, I'm a lot less productive!! Just thought I'd take this opportunity to be even less productive than I was about five minutes ago! :)

Waiting...

So I'm sitting here waiting for the AT&T people to come and I just happened to Google "golden retriever puppies for sale dallas fort worth." And look what popped up:

This is why I shouldn't even be thinking about getting a puppy. Ideally, I'd get one as young as possible as soon as school gets out. This little girl is ready to go home this weekend and she's the perfect color. Luckily, she's also a little out of my price range! I just can't see paying $950 for a dog!! But as I looked I started talking myself out of waiting until school's out, so I've decided I can't even look anymore! Six more weeks, which means my puppy needs to be born right about now. I'll keep you posted.

I'm so stinkin' excited!!

When you see what it is I'm so excited about you might seriously wonder about me! :)

I have lived in my house for three years now. When I first moved in one of the first things I did was call to get Dish Network installed, because who wants to live without TV?? So a couple days later an installation person came to the house and began looking around. After about five minutes he determined that it would just be "too hard" to install Dish at my house. Apparently, the wiring in the house wasn't set up for satellite, only cable. After "discussing" it with the man he said he could do it but it would require a lot of re-wiring, a lot of time, a lot of destruction, and a lot of money. I said, "forget Dish" and was fine with calling the cable company to get set up that way.

I called the cable company who let me know that because my neighborhood was new, cable wasn't available yet. I asked when it would be available and they weren't able to determine that at that time. I called regularly and at one point learned that their projected availability was 2009!! Three years ago that seemed like it was really far away. Then, about a month ago, I came home from school to discover an advertisement for the cable company on my front door. Like someone had to physically place it on my door. I said, "SWEET!" and went inside and called immediately. Imagine my surprise when they let me know that even though they were advertising ON MY FRONT DOOR their services were still not available at my house. They are not sure why they are placing door hangers on houses that are unable to receive their service, I asked and they said they would get back to me, but I'm still waiting.

Since I've lived through all of that I was a little skeptical when I received another advertisement on my door. This time it was for AT&T Uverse. And this time it's totally available! Check it out:

That's right. This Friday I'm getting all set up with the latest and greatest TV technology! I even have to take a half-day off of work to make it happen, but it's going to be totally worth it!

Look what the Easter Bunny brought me...

I got two books to read to help me decide if a puppy is in my future. But, seriously, who could not want one of these little guys??

Somewhere in between...

I don't really know where I've been the last couple weeks. I mean, mostly I've been at school or home, but mentally I've been somewhere else. I wish I could tell you all about it, but like I said, I don't really know! I do know that I've been stuck somewhere in between being the person who God made me to be and being someone who God has to daily pull from the muck and mire. I'm so glad I never have to go it alone. I'm so glad that God chose to send his son to take my place. I'm so glad that He never leaves me.

One thing I've really enjoyed about having a blog is that it's a pretty good way to look back and see when certain things happened. It's like a combination scrapbook/journal/calendar thing. I just took a look back at last Easter and I read some things that I really needed to read. In fact, it's probably more relevant to my life tonight than it was over a year ago...

This past Summer (or maybe Fall) I was doing a Bible Study and I was drawn to a particular part of the story of Jesus' death that it seems I had never really paid much attention to before. We all know the basics-but this little piece brought a whole new depth for me. Once the soldiers had put Jesus on the cross and he was no doubt experiencing great pain, they mocked him. They said things like, "If you're really God, get yourself out of this mess." How easy it would have been for him to show how powerful he is and literally get himself off that cross. God was completely capable and powerful enough to end the agony for Jesus. End the mocking. End the pain. But he didn't. He didn't because if the story had stopped there, then someone else would have to die. Me.

The mocking soldiers kind of reminds me of myself at times. "God, you're big enough to get me out of this mess. Or, You can make this happen if you really want to." And just like watching His own son die, He doesn't intervene. He knows what's coming, He knows that whatever is happening is for my good and His glory.

So, this Easter, I'm seeing things from a little bit of a different perspective. But the truth is the same, He died for me. He took MY place. And the good news, He didn't stay dead! He is alive and active in my life. And that, my friends, is something to celebrate!

I pray that I never get tired of experiencing the power of Jesus' death and resurrection!
