Time Flies

I can hardly believe that one year ago today I sat down at my computer and started this here blog. I don't really remember why I felt like it was a good idea, I was probably just bored!

In honor of the big day, I've been doing some research on my very own blog.

And, finally, this is probably my favorite post. It has just as much impact today as it did when I wrote it.

I can also share that I have had, as of this morning, 10,035 visits to my blog in the last year. That's insane! Of course, about 9,876 of those are probably my parents. I don't really care about the number, but I do find it interesting.

I feel like a year (and 141 posts) later, I probably have a better understanding of why I choose to put my thoughts out here for the whole world to read than I did when I first began. I love to make people laugh, so if I can think of something funny to say this is a great place for it. It is a great way for me to share with my far-away family and friends what is happening. I'm not the best at oral communication (especially on the phone) so this is a much better way for me to communicate. I have a nice "journal" of all the things that happen in my life. I feel like if I put it on my blog, I have to do it, there is great accountability here.

It's been a great year! I've had lots of fun sharing different parts of my life with all 5 of you who read this. Thanks for hanging in there with me as I try to document where I've been and where I'm going.

Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes

Wait! You are in the right place! You're in the right place if you were looking for the blog formerly known as, "I've been thinking," that is. As you can probably tell, this little ol' blog has gone through some major changes. I was getting a little bored with the old look and thought it was time for some updating.

While I wish that I could take credit for creating this great new design, I can't. My new header and blog design was made possible by these people. The whole process was incredibly easy. I just chose a header that I liked and then they customized the text and made it look all cute! In addition to being simple, it was a great deal. You should definitely go check out their other work and then have them design something for you!

Just for Fun

This summer I had the opportunity to spend a day in Seattle, Washington. I had been to Seattle once before, but I never made it to the world famous Pike's Place Fish Market. I was particularly interested in seeing the fish market because I was planning on implementing the FISH Philosophy into my classroom this year! It was really neat to see all the people gathered around the Fish Mongers just waiting for them to throw the fish and other seafood to each other. Then, it became even cooler when I got to get behind the counter and try to catch a fish myself!! Honestly, I can't stand fish, but I really wanted to be able to share the experience with my class. It took me a couple tries but I finally caught a fish! It was really cool and I am really glad I did it!!

I have been meaning to make a little movie about the experience but I just got around to it! I also thought it might be fun to try to post it on the blog. We'll see how that goes!



Also, I'm aware the song choice may be a little strange, but I was happy that day and nothing else really seemed to fit! :)

To blog or not to blog?

I have been wrestling with whether or not to join the blogosphere for some time now. My initial hesitation was simple, do I really want my thoughts floating out there for any and all to read? Then I realized I probably didn't have anything worth writing about. But, alas, here I am giving in to the pressure. I have no real plans for this blog so don't go counting on me to say something that is worth reading. At best, this will be a place that I will occassionally empty my head. I think I could sleep a whole lot better with an empty head! Well, here goes nothing!
