Tonight I was wrapping up a mostly successful shopping day with a trip to Central Market to get a gift card. It was close to 7 and I hadn't eaten dinner yet so I thought I would be cool and healthy and make a salad from the salad bar thing. I do enjoy salad, but my favorite part of a salad is cucumbers and tomatoes so I just filled up my little container with those. Then I place my container on the little scale. Then, because I'm so cool, I stood there for about five minutes trying to figure out how to make the machine print out my label. Once I figured out all I had to do was press print and after I spilled my Ranch dressing all over the floor, it was revealed to me that my little "salad" was going to cost me $12.30. That wasn't a typo. $12.30 for this:
Don't get me wrong, it tasted fine. But $12.30? That's like a whole bag of cucumbers at a regular store. That's like a tank of gas for a small car. If trying to be cool is going to cost that much, I don't really want any part of it.
